Bright Futures Begin with a Meal: InfoConnect’s AMAD and Smart Farming Support 2024

From Meals to Growth: InfoConnect’s CSR Journey

5th August 2024

in conjunction with our 30th Anniversary, InfoConnect proudly partnered with the Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur (Host) by contributing RM11,700 to support B40 students through the “A Meal A Day” (AMAD) and the Smart Farming Project. This initiative is dedicated to ensuring that students from B40 communities receive nutritious meals every day throughout the school year, providing the essential sustenance they need to succeed academically and stay healthy plus teaching them about sustainability and the importance of resourcefulness.

The AMAD Project, which has been making a difference for 12 years, focuses on helping B40 students who often struggle to afford meals during school hours. Without adequate nutrition, these students face difficulties in focusing on their studies, which can hinder their educational progress and overall well-being.

By delivering balanced meals in school canteens, the AMAD Project ensures that students receive the nourishment they need for their physical and mental growth. Transparency is a key feature of this initiative, with all donations directly funding meals, ensuring that the support reaches the students who need it most.

A Special 30th Anniversary Event to Celebrate a Worthy Cause

The mock cheque presentation ceremony was held at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Chin Woo and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Chong Fah Phit Chee. InfoConnect was represented by our very own Miss Lim Huey May, who shared encouraging words with the students, emphasizing the value of education, perseverance, responsibilities, and also the joys of youthhood. She also took the opportunity to highlight the success of the Smart Farming project, encouraging students to continue learning about sustainable practices and to apply the same dedication to their studies.

“Always do your best in your studies and remember to lend a hand with chores at home. If you ever find something difficult to understand, don’t hesitate to ask for help. And most importantly, cherish your time in school by making friends and enjoying every moment,” said Miss Lim with a warm smile.

In return, the students expressed their heartfelt gratitude with speeches and specially made cards. Some students shared how this support allowed them to participate in extracurricular activities they previously couldn’t enjoy, while others expressed their thankfulness for having the energy to stay warm and focused in school. Their stories highlighted the profound impact of the AMAD Project on their daily lives.

These words resonate with InfoConnect’s commitment to nurturing growth and empowering young talents, aligning with our company’s values of supporting the next generation in achieving their full potential especially in conjunction with our 30th Anniversary.

Planting Patience: Growing More Than Just Veggies

In addition to providing meals, the AMAD Project has introduced students and teachers to the basics of agriculture through a Smart Farming project where the students grew vegetables using hydroponic methods. This hands-on experience teaches them about sustainability and the importance of patience, as they learn that growth takes time and care. The project not only enriches their education but also instils valuable life skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Making a Lasting Impact

Our sponsorship of the AMAD Project is part of InfoConnect’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, reflecting our dedication to making a positive impact in the community. At InfoConnect, we believe in creating value not just through our business solutions but also by actively participating in social projects that uplift those in need. The Smart Farming initiative is a key component of this mission, as it equips students with knowledge about sustainable practices and the significance of self-sufficiency.

Datuk Stephen Wong, the chairman of the AMAD Project, spoke about the significant impact the initiative has had and shared future goals. Currently, the AMAD Project supports 158 students, with plans to expand this support to 200 B40 students in the near future. Contributions from companies like InfoConnect are crucial in helping the project grow and reach more students in need.

By addressing the fundamental need for food, the AMAD Project not only enhances students’ academic performance but also improves their overall quality of life. Daily nutritious meals help students stay physically and mentally prepared for their studies, fostering a positive learning environment. The AMAD Project’s holistic approach, including the Smart Farming initiative, ensures lasting and meaningful changes in the lives of B40 students.

Conclusion

InfoConnect’s collaboration with the Lions Club KL Host for the AMAD Project is more than just a charitable effort—it is a transformative initiative that helps shape the future of young minds. By ensuring that B40 students have access to nutritious meals and by introducing them to Smart Farming, InfoConnect is addressing immediate needs and investing in long-term societal benefits. This partnership exemplifies the power of CSR when aligned with sustainable development goals, showing that real change is possible when organizations work together for a common cause.
